"The Flatness of Being," to me, represents the different weights in life packaged and combined in various forms, yet throughout constant change, revealing the truest appearance of existence. It is an exploration centered around the "self"—seeking, pursuing, resolving, and optimizing one's personal way of living. This exhibition stems from a short-term art residency in Taoyuan, where I captured the location, place, and sense of place within the city. These three elements are flattened and compressed from different perspectives, reconstructed through painting to shape the form of space and town. In the creative process, the transformation gives rise to expressive imagery, dissolving the relationship between objects and their original concepts, and forming new possibilities of being. As time advances, ways of seeing and perspectives continually shift, and life remains full of unknowns. Against this backdrop, amid rapidly changing environments, the exploration of place inevitably continues. This pursuit leads to rediscovering lost or human-intervened coordinates, reinterpreting how color constructs the method of translating what lies before my eyes.
